Since 2023, he has represented India in the Eurasia, Middle East and North Africa (EMENA) Joint Group of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) under the International Cooperation Review Group (ICRG). See below
The ICRG is responsible for identifying jurisdictions with strategic deficiencies in their anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) frameworks and monitoring their progress in addressing these deficiencies. Through a structured peer-review process, the FATF Joint Groups evaluate legislative, regulatory, supervisory, and institutional reforms, assess progress against agreed action plans, engage with country authorities, and prepare technical assessment reports for consideration by the FATF Plenary.
As India's representative to the EMENA Joint Group, he contributes to the peer review of jurisdictions undergoing enhanced FATF monitoring. His work involves evaluating legislative and institutional reforms, reviewing technical submissions, analysing progress against FATF action plans, and collaborating with experts from FATF member jurisdictions and international organisations.
During his tenure, he has contributed to the review of Albania, Türkiye, Algeria, Monaco, Syria, Kuwait, Bulgaria, Mali, and Lebanon.

He currently serves as the Convener of the inter-agency working group leading the sectoral risk assessment on the transparency of legal persons and legal arrangements, and as a member of the working group on Benami transaction risks. These assessments will inform India's forthcoming National Risk Assessment (NRA). See below
These sectoral risk assessments are being undertaken in close collaboration with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Financial Intelligence Unit–India (FIU-IND), state Registrars of Societies, Public Trusts and Charities, financial sector regulators, and other law enforcement agencies. The assessments will form a key input into India's forthcoming National Risk Assessment (NRA) on money laundering and terrorist financing.

Over a period of more than two years, he played a key role in India's preparations for the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Mutual Evaluation (2024), with a primary focus on strengthening the country's framework for transparency and beneficial ownership of legal persons and legal arrangements.
His work involved leading and coordinating technical inputs from multiple government ministries, regulators, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to support India's implementation of the FATF Standards. He contributed to the development of India's national risk assessment relating to legal persons and legal arrangements, conducted self-assessments of the country's effectiveness under Immediate Outcome 5 (IO5), identified legislative, policy, and institutional gaps, and supported the formulation of appropriate mitigation measures.
Through sustained inter-agency engagement, he contributed to the design and implementation of several legislative, regulatory, and executive measures that strengthened India's framework for beneficial ownership transparency, enhanced institutional coordination, and improved compliance with the FATF Standards.
These efforts formed part of India's broader preparation for the 2024 FATF Mutual Evaluation and contributed to India's strong performance.
